How do I care for my boots?Â
No bells and whistles needed. We keep it simple, and recommend you do the same. We have an ideal blend of products we recommend per material, but feel free to use these as a template for your own care kit. These products are what we personally use to keep our pairs looking fresh and healthy:
When caring for full-grain leather footwear and accessories-
- Otter Wax Saddle Soap:Â Dip the horsehair brush into a bowl of warm water and swirl into the tin of saddle soap. Repeat this step until the surface begins to foam. Begin by scrubbing a small section of leather and continually rinse the brush in warm water and applying saddle soap until clean. Rinse a soft , lint-free towel with warm water, wring out excess, and off your entire leather item. Repeat this process until all Saddle Soap has been removed.
- Otter Wax Leather Salve:Â Use a lint-free cloth to create a small divot in the center of the tin. Press and swirl cloth until the consistency of the salve is soft and smooth. Begin by applying Salve to a small section of leather using smooth circular motions. Allow apx.20-40 minutes for the treatment to absorb into the pores of the leather. When a waxy haze has developed on the surface of the leather and it feels dry to the touch, use a lint-free cloth to buff away any haze and create a uniform appearance.
- Boot Wax:Â The boot wax waterproofs your leather to protect your boots from water damage. To apply: Use a soft lint-free cloth to create a small divot in the center of the tin. Press and swirl the cloth until the consistency of the boot wax is soft and smooth. Begin applying boot wax to a small section of the leather using smooth circular motions. Allow apx. 20-40 minutes for the treatment to settle.
When caring for Suede and Nubuck footwear and accessories-
- Otter Wax Suede Cleaner: The suede cleaner helps treat stains, blemishes and odors while evening the tone and coloration of suede and nubuck models.Â
- Suede / Nubuck Protector Spray: A suede protecting spray helps to protect your suede from liquids and stains while keeping the natural characteristics of suede and nubuck we know and love. Make sure to apply a couple coats and let them dry completely before wearing.
How do I know if my footwear is waterproof?
We do offer a fully waterproofed collection which is composed of theHighland Plain-Toe Men’s Boot+Burnham Moc Toe Men’s BootFinished Leather Footwear:All of our leathers are tanned and imbued with oils and treated with a water-repellent finish. While our handcrafted leather boots are naturally water-resistant, they are not entirely waterproof. If you would like to waterproof them yourself, we recommend a clear waterproofing spray or Otter Wax’s Boot Wax which we offer in-store.
Suede + Nubuck:All of our Suedes and Nubucks are not water-resistant unless otherwise specified on the product page. For these models, we recommend theclear waterproofing sprayas it will evenly coat your shoes and boots while not affecting the natural characteristics of the hide.
Can Milwaukee Boots be resoled?Â
All of our Goodyear Welted boots and shoes can be easily resoled and recrafted. This means that if your Milwaukee Boots are kept in good condition, they can be resoled by a cobbler for years to come. All you have to do is give them the occasional TLC they deserve.
Do you carry wide sizes?
At this time, we do not have wide sizes available.
Where are your boots made?
We handcraft our boots in our family-owned, third generation factories located in India. Because we own and operate our own factories, we have greater control over our process, quality of craft, and the work environment we create for our craftsmen. Every cut, stitch and finish is done by the hands of talented craftsmen in our footwear and accessory factories.
How are your boots so affordable? Who makes them?
All Milwaukee Boot craftspeople are paid a living wage that exceeds local standards. Full medical benefits and onsite childcare facilities are provided to all team members. Because we own and operate our factories, you’re paying for the boot and not the middleman bullshit you often find in other retailers.
My leather looks different than the photos!
Due to leather being a natural material and our handcrafted process, some color variation and marking in leather is be expected.
